Well, I guess my opting out of the gift exchange didn't take.

People are threatening to drag me to the office party in NYC next week because I didn't make it to mine. Whyyyy. It's like people have never heard of introverts.

Ha! I guess my "less than" symbol took out part of my post...it's supposed to say under $10 things to get me.

Giant sloth is a good one, though. Also more sleep.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

under $10 things to get me.

I would say coffee, but you've said you don't make it at home any more, right? Do you drink tea? If so, fancy tea is an option. Or hot cocoa mix.

Candle? (With a stank-ass dog in our small house, candles are my go-to so that we don't smell like a kennel 24/7.) (I am not implying your house is full of dog stink, but a candle might be a good backup in case he gets farty.)

Page-a-day calendar for your desk? (Shit, I don't even know if those are under $10.)

And...that's all I got. That's pretty much what I always put on my list when my old company did the gift exchange. Though one year I got a Magic 8-Ball, which was pretty sweet.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It could be a very small giant sloth. $10 only goes so far.

I like the giant sloth idea.

I recommend a Dilbert plush toy that says phrases when you slam it on your desk. It can be very satisfying if you get the toy that says the things you want to say but can't.

I was thinking I might statr drinking decaf, actually, which is not provided by work, so maybe I will ask for that. I do drink tea but my cupboard is full.

Decaf and a giant sloth. However much they can get for $10.

(I have this one. PERHAPS not the best sign that that's the one my coworkers though I should have, but then, we just got the whole set and gave them to all of us, we didn't think my coworker S was a complete dumb-ass at all (she's awesome, though she was very young), but her doll was like "OMG, really?")

Hm, maybe I'll get that for whoever I draw, depending on who it is...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I would love a $10 gift certificate for either of the two places I usually get my lunch. I will be buying Starbucks gift certificates for my direct reports -- is $10 enough for that?

I would think so. That's at least a couple of fancy drinks, right?
