I have some good CJ!school news. We met with an advisor at the community college he wants to go to and the Fire Science program is not competitive entry, so he is all set to schedule classes next spring for the fall.

He also got his ACT scores back and he scored a 27. His school average was 22. The advisor was thrilled with his score and really underlined that the AA program he is looking at is fully transferable to a 4 year degree at another local college. And with his smarts, he should really plan on getting a 4 year degree eventually.

Today we met with his HS advisor to updates his 2nd semester classes. His only required class is College Prep Writing. But he needs at least 4 other classes to be considered a full time student so now he has Adventure Aide (he has TA'ed in this class multiple times), Sports Training, Sports Medicine, and Theater. Rough schedule, eh? Actually the Sports Medicine will be more rigorous than the others.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

That is great news, Suzi! I'm sure he's thrilled and you are too! 27 is a really good score on the ACT, too, if I recall correctly.

I did, too! And that is excellent news! Is he happy about it?

Yes. Such a change from a year ago. The college advisor suggested he get in the habit of two hours of studying for every classroom hour. He is not a studier (is that a word?), so that will be a challenge.

Personally, I'm thrilled. He got a taste of scholastic praise (based on his ACT scores). I'm hoping that will provide some inspriation to prepare for the rigors of college. Just cause it is a community college doesn't mean it won't be tough.

Adventure Aide, Sports Training, and Sports Medicine? Dang, my high school didn't have anything like those! Not that I probably would've taken them anyway, but still...

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yay for good news!

These past two days, Chumley has been drinking water like it's going out of style. I just used Minet's glucometer and his blood sugar is 340 (if I did it right) which is Not Good At All. Vets office is booked up today, but I can call at 8 am tomorrow for an appointment when they get a cancellation.

Did somewhere a Detect Money chip go off in my bank account?

In other news, my desktop computer now crashes as it runs a disk verification process.

I'm staying home from tutoring this afternoon, as the disaster area that I'm projecting around me would probably inspire a student to drop out.
