ETA: Ack, x-post! So sorry about your awful day!
---
I am in food prep central. We have about 17 coming tomorrow; 14 adults, 3 kids and the inevitable straggler who will show up for second dinner. I’m so relieved that I finally have a few people coming who can do the sides; for a long time I was the only cook and kind of had to do everything. Now I do the turkey, the veggie apple stuffing, the gravy, roasted parsnips, and mulled cider. Everything else is coming in from the outside. Winning.
Alas, also losing, because I just realized I have to make a grocery run for a few odds and ends I forgot. DAMN IT. EVERY YEAR.
Also, pro tip: do not leave your slotted spoon too close to the open flame when preparing your turkey brine. It will melt.
Oh man, -t! I'm glad things worked out more or less OK.
That's scary, -t! Glad you're okay.
Oh -t, how scary. And go-go-go to all the folks cooking andor baking. CJ is spending tomorrow at his dad's. K-Bug and I are going out to a t-day buffet. Will miss having leftovers.
Thanks, y'all. Everything is, in fact, okay; I just needed to get all that out.
-t, how terrifying! I'm glad you're not hurt!
-t, that is terrifying.
Our sink is clogged. It happened at 3:00, but pies were being made so we waited. Tried plunging. Then couldn't get the trap off and now we are waiting for a plumber.
Blargh.
Oh, ugh, plumbing issues on holidays suck extra.
Plumber is here!
$235 later, let's hope it works.
Ouch.
Mom finally called, they had no trouble getting home, just forgot they were supposed to call me. So everything is definitely okay in -t-land.
Also, So Delicious Mint Chocolate Seasonal Coconut Drink (possibly not the actual name) is pretty tasty.
