She's terse. I can be terse. Once in flight school, I was laconic.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

These "21st century" companies make their money by providing less liability protetction and by creaming off the best rides, while not offering service in less profitable areas. While an argument can be made that in some cities there is an abusurd medallion system in place, regulations that specify minimum fairs in return for obligations to serve areas that would otherwise be unserved or underserved, and obligations to maintain reasonalbe liability protection are more than unfair. If a company's business model is "we can compete because we don't have to obey the rules" my response to them is a string of expletives. If you've found a genuine technological advantage rather than a loophole in the law which does not work in every location, then work under the same rules as your competition. There are apps for informal ride sharing, that don't involve people in essence operating as taxi services that don't come under these rules. Basically they are a kind of car pooling. Lyft and Uber and so on is not car pooling. They are ways for people to make part of a living by providing taxi service. As such they need to operate under the same rules as taxi services.

Our wings are not tired.

Guess he wants to lose the text feature too. I did that to son Brendon once. He was not pleased.

I got my shipment of fudge last night, and after some debate I decided to try the type with sugar in it. And it's too sweet. It's like solidified chocolate frosting. I think I was expecting something with a darker chocolate taste.

But that only means it will take me a longer time to eat it.

And perhaps the sugar-free one will match my tastes better.

The previous discussions about book culling have made me seriously think about going through all the book cases and getting rid of everything that isn't research or that I don't absolutely love. I might take everything to Half-Price Books, take whatever pittance they give me, and set that aside as the ebook rereading fund. If I suddenly want to reread something that I sold and the library doesn't have it, I will buy a digital copy.
