Hey, don't worry about it. Nest full of vampires, you come get me, okay. Box full of puppies, that's more of a judgement call.

This trip's rental car - Dodge Challenger, manual drive. I didn't know rental companies stocked manuals anymore. It is zippy.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Jesus God it is so cold today (22 right now, woo hoo) that the thermostat (for the indoors) must be lying. Because it does NOT feel like 68 anywhere in the house.

I think I must move my laptop into the bedroom, where I can fire up the heated mattress pad and warm my poor toes up. I'm wearing wool socks and big fuzzy Ugg-like slippers and my feet are still freezing.

(I get irrationally angry about weather. Really. I've been walking around all day muttering "FUCK this bullshit weather!" The dog is perplexed.)

t edit And, of course, with that said, I have to acknowledge that Tim is working in an unheated warehouse and my dad has to bring in grocery carts for 30 minutes at a time, so my poor not-quite-68-degree toes are still winning this one.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Cold weather also makes me angry.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I was cold at night last week, so over the weekend, I:
- pulled out the window air conditioner
- put down the storm windows
- put flannel sheets on my bed
- added a blanket as well

NOW I am warm enough!

I love the heated mattress pad beyond words. Definitely not cold at night. But the ambient temperature in the house right now is not 68, no matter what the (lying) thermostat says.

Sometimes 68 is freezing in my house, I don't know why. 69 is almost always warm enough, though. (that's what she said...)

Oh god, it's an epidemic of lying thermostats!

(I have now relocated to the bedroom, where my toes are warming up thanks to the aforementioned glorious heated mattress pad. Freelancing FTW.)

I'm about to get more hot water here in the office, because two sweaters has my body warm enough, but my hands are still cold. This fucking office. Good think we're moving....a year from now.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My apartment was 58 degrees this morning (thermostat set at 70), because I have practically no insulation. I ordered some of that plastic sheeting to put over the windows, and it's supposed to be delivered today, but I probably won't be able to put it up until Thursday at the earliest.
