Sometimes 68 is freezing in my house, I don't know why.
Oh god, it's an epidemic of lying thermostats!
(I have now relocated to the bedroom, where my toes are warming up thanks to the aforementioned glorious heated mattress pad. Freelancing FTW.)
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I'm about to get more hot water here in the office, because two sweaters has my body warm enough, but my hands are still cold. This fucking office. Good think we're moving....a year from now.
My apartment was 58 degrees this morning (thermostat set at 70), because I have practically no insulation. I ordered some of that plastic sheeting to put over the windows, and it's supposed to be delivered today, but I probably won't be able to put it up until Thursday at the earliest.
Ha, a friend posted this on FB: "Lake Shore Drive Bus Crash, Lincoln Park Fire Create Nightmare Commute" [link]
Wow, the back half of that bus was completely gutted.
I had a dentist appt today, and I'm afraid I entered the building with a loud "JFC fucking WIND" just from the brief walk across the parking lot. I mean, I even drove over there (it's a 10 minute walk) because no.
I am pretty pleased with my current batch of mac & cheese. Adding more cheese was the right choice. It would be better yet if it was at some point baked rather than microwaved, probably, but I don't know if I can manage that this week.
I keep the house at 65-68. After my internal thermostat kicks over to winter, anything warmer feels too warm. My bedroom must be terrificly insulated, because I kick off the blankets during the night. I open the door in the morning, though, and the hallway is cold.
I read (possibly via NPR) that it hit 30 degrees or lower in all 50 states today.

I think it was that every state was at least 30 degrees below the normal for this time of year?
