I read where the key to dealing with Comcast (and AT&T) upsell when you're cancelling service is to tell them you're moving overseas, or at least somewhere where they don't offer service. That means that the call center person's record doesn't get dinged for 'losing' your account.
Also, I'd like to state for the record, that while I didn't get my desk completely cleared off yesterday, I made some serious progress re: bare surface and organization. I kind of forgot just how big this desk is....
Foggy (and stinky, wtf, fall air quality) this morning.
Loki's new trick: shoving the alarm clock off the table so it hangs by its cord and he can take swings at it. Not helpful.
When I called to cancel my Comcast account, telling them I was moving in with someone who already had an account worked magic. I don't think I would have said it if it weren't more or less true, though.

I will keep this in mind. I'll be canceling soon I hope. My brother worked for Comcast for a decade or so doing installs and internet service calls. After he couldn't be on the road anymore (he has MS), they put him in the call center. He couldn't deal at all being up close to the corporate silliness. He isn't there anymore. He ended up making his part time job full time, and as soon as the insurance kicked in he quit Comcast.
We cannot carry over any vacation and do not have a set # of sick days do those do not bank either. I hate that you only get 2 weeks until you have been here 5 years. It is non negotiable except for high level people bring hired in. I asked to skip a raise and get more days and was denied.
You don't get sick days? That's not okay.
In f#@%k cancer news, my home and many others will feel a pang when we hear Mrs. Wolowitz yelling as we watch so much Big Bang. I know I saw her in other things, but her character on BBT was really memorable. [link]
I'm pretty excited that we just voted in mandatory paid sick leave.
And just double-checked and don't have more than a couple of vacation days to use or lose, so I guess I won't take extra time. But I should plan a week off next spring or something. I wish I could get a business trip scheduled that I could build on -- free flights!
