And just double-checked and don't have more than a couple of vacation days to use or lose, so I guess I won't take extra time. But I should plan a week off next spring or something. I wish I could get a business trip scheduled that I could build on -- free flights!

Sorry, yes we have sick days, but there is not a set #. If you are out more than 3 consecutive days you need a dr note. If out 5 consecutive you shift over to short term disability then long term. There is nothing stated in writing, but I have heard people say something to the effect that if someone is out sick a lot it would be a problem. No idea what a lot is, but where I work sickness is at some level considered weakness. Almost no one takes days. I was very much in the habit of taking at least 1 day a quarter. I do not thnk I have taken 1 day since May 2013 when I started out here. I need to start taking them again. In my head it was just easier when there was a policy that said 7 days per employee or whatever.
It is actually unusual that I have not been sick for so long, but I am a firm believer in mental health days.
I stand by my "that's not okay"
OMG everyone is getting on my nerves this morning. Stop being stupid co-workers.
Successful comet landing!
Yeah? Hooray science!
Our sick days and vacation time are just bundled together, and we can carry over 3 weeks' worth into the new year. Speaking of, I'm off work next week and just found out the bill for today's car repair (having my brakes fixed) is low enough I can go on an actual vacation in good conscience. Eureka Springs, here I come!
Hooray vacation!
