Goodbye and Good Riddance 2013: That Was the Year That Was
Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Thanksgivukkahmas, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Out you go, 2013!
Don't want a doll, no dinky tinker toy
Pretty sure my son is singing that song today at the holiday show. (Side note: I wish they sang a few traditional carols along with the other stuff. I get why it's fallen by the wayside, but I just like them.)
After the Welcome to Night Vale show last night, I met up with Tom Scola at The Bell House, and it turns out that he was also my Secret Santa! So not only did I get a bag of super-cool gifts (a gift card to The Strand, four awesome books [David Byrne's How Music Works, Kate Beaton's Sketchbook, Henry and Glenn Forever and Ever, #3 (HAHAHAHA!), and the Short Stack Grits cookbook], and a make-your-own mustard kit [so that I can have DIY, urban, artisinal, Brooklyn-Brooklyn, mustard-mustard]), I got to have beers with and hang out with Scola, too, so DOUBLE GIFTS!
BEST!
So happymaking.
Okay, I do enjoy playing voyeur to the Secret Santa exchange.
Me too! Even if I didn't have the spoons to participate.
That's an awesome gift, amyth!
Dillo's class sang "There was a pig went out to dig," (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEYdwjBuRKw) at the school holiday concert last night. So some places do traditional carols!
You guys, I forgot about this thread until today! I wasn't subscribed to it for some reason. I love reading about everyone's Secret Santa shenanigans, even though I also didn't have the spoons to participate.
The holiday ones, smooched together on and under the mantle. [link]
Are they all from anonymous people, or did they sign their names? Because I want to know who sent the Free Beer card. That is hilarious!
