Unfortunately, I was too turned off by John Woo Alfred and bad CGI Batmobile to even want to give it a chance.
As for Korra, I think one thing that is hurting it compared to A:TLA is the half-length seasons. TLA had room to be breathe and explore the world and the characters.
It also had a singular overarching plot through it's three seasons: defeat the Fire Lord and stop the war; with each season's main goal of "learn the next element." You always knew where the characters were going, even if you had no idea what route they would take to get there.
Korra's overarching plotline is basically "Be the Avatar". There's no definitive goal for her and each season has basically been "Hey, stop that villain(s)!"
I think the half-length seasons have been good as they've encouraged more economical storytelling, though more time to breathe and explore in A:TLA was of course nice. This was the first season that really got the format down, though.
And the lack of a single overarching plot is also a thing, though not necessarily an Issue. It's just different.
Korra
will never, overall, be as good as A:TLA, but it's poised to complete its run as a worthy successor.
Donald Glover cast in Disney XD's The Ultimate Spider-Man: [link] (character info at link). THIS IS PERFECT.
Has the show gotten any better? While I love that they're doing this, the last time I tried to watch the show it was pretty bad.
I haven't seen it, due to lack of cable and lack of motivation to buy it from iTunes (or wherever it lives). Still love the casting of Donald Glover.
I just mainlined all 26 episodes of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: 2nd Gig.
I love grownup anime!
Wait, there's a sequel series? I haven't even watched...any of
Ghost in the Shell
ever!
There's 2 called Stand Alone Complex. They're about 26 episodes each. They sre talky and thinky and you have to pay attention because nothing is really a throwaway. Very cool animation and future concepts.
animetoon.tv is where I watch.
And they have Season 5 Archer, and the original The Tick!
Season 5 Archer
Okay, I have 2 Archer-related general questions:
(1) Many non-Buffista people have complained on FB that S5 sucked. I thought it was a weird departure, but I still liked it. What's the general consensus on S5 around these parts?
(2) And what's your favorite season?
