Animation 1: I'm Not Bad, I'm Just Drawn That Way

A thread to discuss television and online animation.

Well. To be fair. It does have "wars" in it's name. Just because it is animated doesn't mean it's for kids.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

I'm well aware animation doesn't automatically mean something is for kids, but the show was intended as such (though on the older side of the spectrum). Much like the movies. That and there are some weird tonal shifts and varying violence levels (plus random Jar Jar being an idiot but somehow still winning the day episodes) that makes me wonder if everyone was on the same page as to whom their target audience was.

I agree. And some of the episode plot lines were heavy. Which prompted me to ask if this is for kids. Then saw it's rated TV-PG. not Y or Y7, or G.

Well, TV-PG is theoretically still for kids, just older ones. All the Star Wars movies (except Revenge of the Sith) were PG as well.

On the Legend of Korra front, that ending was a bit of a downer. The finale was great overall, but seeing Korra like that is sad.

Also, was happy to see I was right on Bolin learning to lava bend.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I can't believe they got that P'Li scene through. I mean, they deliberately didn't show it but holy shit what it implied holy shit.

This season was A:TLA-level quality. Not a bad episode all season, and it embodied everything that made the original show great. Great, solid storytelling for thirteen episodes, plus AWESOME FIGHT SCENES.

Wow! What a finale!! I agree, sad to see her like that. But, it will make for an interesting arc for next season. A super hero with depression and/or PTSD? Can't believe the amount of destruction! The temple!! It's gone!! I do like the decision to make the air benders nomadic. I think it will also help convince new benders to join the group, rather than seclusion in a far away temple.

(Spoiler font, cuz I'm not sure how soon I can post stuff. I'm west coast, so I think it's safe. But, rather look silly than piss folks off).

So, like, Su slapped the steel cap on her head just as she went boom? Eww. I hadn't realized that's what happened.

I also had forgotten that Mako could bend lightning.

I'm surprised nobody died: I kind of figured someone had to.

But did anyone else think it was odd how much attention they paid to that metal-bender Kuvara (sp?)? She's going to be important.

Oh crap. I didn't realize that either.

Very happy Jinora got her stripes. When she started the group thing, I was like "Her dad better give he the tattoo's now!" Happy that's how it ended

(Do I need spoiler font or no?)

Was that the Captain that was chatting with Korra's dad?? Yeah, I figured it was setting her up for something next season.

Yeeeeeep. She blew her own fucking head up. Sleep well, kids! And now a talking sponge that lives under the sea.

I also had forgotten that Mako could bend lightning.

Me too!

Book 4: EVERYONE DIES.

But did anyone else think it was odd how much attention they paid to that metal-bender Kuvara (sp?)? She's going to be important.

Yeah, seemed like she was flirting with him. Apparently she's voiced by Henry Rollins's daughter. AVC reviewer thinks she's a Red Lotus spy. Could be!

(Do I need spoiler font or no?)

No, it's not airing on television anymore. (I hadn't realized it went up so early, though, and got spoiled about the lava bending from Kalshane's post, which I'm glad wasn't more detailed!)
