OK, my first actual expenditure was hi-tech windshield wipers for my car. Also paid up on a bunch of credit stuff. Will have to wait until the check actually clears for more financial excitement.
Here's something for the Harry Potter fans: a documentary someone's making about the rise of Quidditch as an actual sport. It's pretty endearing, and I suspect that, like other sports documentaries, if I see it, I'll cry.
Of course, the Senate deal is an incredibly stupid deal that just guarantees we'll do this dance all over again in January, but hey, no US credit default, so yay.

I guess it will come down to how many are worried about being primaried by the Tea Party faithful. If the Tea Party is still considered a significant force in Republican politics, then we may see a bunch of Republican Congressmen doubling down on the stupid.
Which would do nice things for Democrats chances in the fall, but I'd rather not wreck the country and it's credit rating in the process.
right? Well, some moderate Repubs and Dems are trying for a left (-ish) challenge to GOP members who like mucking up the works. That might be nice.
