Fred: It's the pictures in my mind that are getting me. It's like being stuck in a really bad movie with those Clockwork Orange clampy things on my eyeballs. Wesley: Why imagine? Reality's disturbing enough.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

my mom just sent me $60 cash in the mail. And I have an ounce of gold somewhere. I'll fill the gas tank up tomorrow, and that will be the extent of my preparation (see also: Tropical Storm Karen prep.)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I don't think I even have laundry money.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Thanks for clarifying my mind for me, everyone. I will leave my stocks alone and get some cash tomorrow. And then nothing will happen. Probably. Right?

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

My apartment is cleaner, but still looks like a pit. I curse my bum ankle for not allowing me to put out the recycling last Monday, right now that's most of what's clogging up space. I would have washed more dishes but my hands have pruned up and dried out completely for the evening.

The silver lining is that the folks will not be spending the night at any point. So I don't have to worry about getting rid of the chipmunk if it is still around (the squeaking at 4am is fun!) and I can stuff shit in my oven and not worry about having to bake dinner.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Speaking on behalf of the lactose-intolerant, i totally sub coconut milk (the full fat kind) for condensed milk in my pumpkin pie and it is sooooooooooo yummy!

Another yes from here -- 'So Delicious' brand coconut milk has totally changed my diet. It's close enough that I can pour it over corn flakes for breakfast, and use it to make hot cocoa, and stuff like that.

I hadn't even considered what the shutdown might do to ATMs and whatnot. And I just got a large-ish check for my part of my Mom's estate to deposit (and promptly pay off a bunch of outstanding bills, which is what she would have wanted).

hip deep in pie

I spent about 10 minutes last night trying to decide if FY! Treasure Trails was SFW so I could follow it on Tumblr. I don't know why I didn't get the hive mind to weigh in. (In the end, I decided to bookmark it at home.)

Also, I have a spare room and a futon in the basement and I guess soon we really may have an unguarded border.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Gnargh, feh, my breakfast cart guy put ketchup on this egg sandwich! Come on breakfast cart guy, I know ketchup on eggs is a traditional NYC thing, but it's also really really gross which is why I said NO KETCHUP. P'tui.

I doubt hitting the debt ceiling will affect people's ability to access checking or basic savings accounts. It may freeze up credit (like in 2008) but if you have money in the bank that's just money as opposed to stocks or bonds, it should be fine.

I better get my inheritance check deposited pronto.

I guess I really am an adult. My first thought upon seeing the check wasn't "vacation in Hawaii!" but "new tires." (Not even an exclamation mark in my thoughts.) I am now officially dull.
