'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I got all dressed and out to move the car before I realized this was the second Thursday of the month and therefore not a street-cleaning day.

Ah well, at least I'm dressed.

not your mom's socks.

Burrell - thinking of you and your family.

Kat - I got nothing - just hugs.

Kate, I am so sorry for your loss.

Cash - glad your news came back good. Wishing all possible good for your mom too.

We are readying for 9 hours of travel, then four days of family wedding. The statistics we are gaming include: *ratio of conservatives to liberals in immediate family circle, *number of minutes until my mom asks me why I chose this dress and whether I can't lose some weight / get some spanx before the ceremony, *total times she sighs when asked if HPF is her only grandchild, *number of times I wish dart-gun tranquilizers existed, *number of times I consider tranquing myself, and *number of times I text my sister to tell her the next fun thing someone said. The wedding is in El Paso (nothing against the best parts of Texas where Msbelle lives). Good thing there's nothing going on to get the political pot-stirrers in my family riled. NEWP. I am just hoping to get out alive.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

No power at work, car drove into a utility pole (they're okay) so I'm going into work late, yay!

Sox, don't forget *number of times you're asked if you're Saved.

I solemnly swear the next time somebody asks me if I'm capital-S Saved (it only happens very rarely here in Yankeedom), they're so getting an earful as to why that is prideful and inappropriate to ask a stranger.

I have a plan for this. I think I shall respond, "Oh yes! Buffy saved me a lot." And then smile as enthusiastically as possible while running away.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think I hate my dentist's office. A half hour late already? Oy.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dart gun tranqs *don't* exist? I feel--boondoggled. Maybe also hornswaggled, but I might have just made that up.

Jesse, don't go for my hour and a half from Tuesday. Entire morning shot by a 9:30 appointment, but on the up side, PROGRESS.

No news from the neuro. When is too soon to poke?

Now tagless for your comfort.

Oh, Sox, good luck!!!

Mom's getting her PET scan today. Cross your collective digits.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

One of my friends who teaches at a DC public school says that, unless the shutdown ends before next week, he's not going to be getting paid, since the district is running out of money.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, I'm sure they can just close the schools and everyone will be fine with that, right?
