"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

We have just un-coned our dog. he keeps gnawing on his feet. The issue is also that he is stone deaf. When coned, he can neither see nor hear. I think if we need to recone we need to invest in one of those pillowy kinds so he can eat least see.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

What's up with the feet-chewing, Kat? I hope he's done with it for now.

Thinking about losing my four-legged family by fire is the stuff of nightmares. May comfort come to those who have gone through it.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Thinking about losing my four-legged family by fire is the stuff of nightmares.

I am on the other side of the country from my pets right now, and this is freaking my shit out.

brillig

I was just playing Geoguesser and came across the most terrifying road I've ever seen. Not something suspended above a Himalayan ravine by fraying ropes, but three lanes in either direction with no lines painted on it. The lanes and division between direction were only by common consent. It was in the Ukraine, and hooray for common purpose and cooperation, but, my god, what the drivers I deal with would do with that.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm going "la, la, la, I can't hear you" about the dogs.

My friend was out of town when her house burned and her dog and cats were being boarded. I suppose there's a chance the fire department would have been called sooner if she had been home, but I don't know how she would have gotten out four cats and a neurotic giant Schnauzer.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm so sorry to hear about the dogs -- that hurts more than losing the other possessions, I'm sure.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Up at 6:30 when Gary's alarm went off, checked that things were still shut down, and here I am. (Couldn't go back to sleep, alas.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Here's some bad timing: I just got a solicitation email from the Boston Public Library with the subject line "As Yellow Buses Rumble Down Our Streets." Except, the Boston Public Schools bus drivers are unexpectedly on strike this morning. Whoops!

Because books.

I'd put that in Good Stuff, Jesse.
