I just talked to someone else in the office, and apparently it's like a funeral in there today, and others were laid off, too. Most days I'm amazed this job has lasted as long as it has.

I am working on our office's holiday party thing - dinner at a nice-ish place for all employees and guest. I was told to select a few entree selections off the menu to be what we order from and that we try to keep the bill at $30 per person.
I select the two least expensive steak options for my boss to choose from and he says" no, we go with this one" which is a $29.99 entree. Then he points at a $13.99 fish entree and a $14.99 pork chop entree as two of the other options. How is that fair?!? ugh.
