this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Mendocino! I'm so glad you're enjoying it, Tep.

We lucked out enormously to rent a whole cottage rather than a hotel/B&B. Up here, the rate to rent a cottage isn't much more than a B&B, and we decided it was worth it to have the room to spread out, and a whole kitchen to cook for ourselves. Not to mention the gorgeous back yard/flower garden and random super-friendly (outdoor) cat.

We have a rooster as a neighbor, and I didn't realize they just crow all damn day. Apparently they only have one skill, so they just do it ALL DAY.

Because books.

Well, the rooster sounds less than optimal but everything else sounds lovely!

And then you get the SF leg of the trip! This is another of those times I wish SF was right around the corner.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Apparently they only have one skill, so they just do it ALL DAY.

Cocks. Go figure.

Not to mention the gorgeous back yard/flower garden and random super-friendly (outdoor) cat.

That sounds really amazing (well, not the cat bit, but the general ambiance). Renting cottages can get you a lovely little bubble full of beauty, and you really deserve a good bubble (right about now, but also always).

My ankle is all...up in arms this weekend. I have decided that my body is just hypersensitive and that this isn't related to healing or not, because if so, it's a good two week's worth of regression. So I'm pretending it's sending the same messages as last week, and still doing the same exercises, etc.

But, shit.

My pain psychologist sent me an email telling me about the results of her convo with my pain doctor. I still haven't read it. I don't want to be there.

I am behind on this weekend's pie, and I'm behind on the drawing. I have got to get off this ass.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

meara and I learned that the hard way in Mexico.

Because books.

You want someone to read it first, ita? I make politely ask Stephen do that with emails I'm afraid of.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am working on the assumption that butternut squash is practically pumpkin, and have a pumpkin spice chocolate quickbread in the oven.

Next I have to go do more clearing at my grandmother's. My mother decided to have a yard sale next weekend, but hasn't done any of the actual prep needed for it. Like, we want to sell a chest of drawers that is still full of crap. I feel for her not being able to deal with it, and I am clearly getting all of the benefit of it being done, but I am still a little annoyed with her.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Usually the roosters that crow have a couple hens to lord it over, or another rooster to intimidate. (Chicken-English dictionary: cockadoodle-doo! -> F**k you!) Ones that are by themselves tend to be quieter.

Butternut squash IS practically pumpkin. Though I wonder why we don't ever make butternut squash pie?

What brenda said. Yup.

Because butternut squash is a royal PITA.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Butternut squash IS practically pumpkin. Though I wonder why we don't ever make butternut squash pie?

Around here, the variety of squash called buttercup usually has much better flavor than the sugar pumpkins, so we have shamelessly and with malice aforethought made squash pies. Repeatedly. And for family gatherings.
