No, no, no, sir. No more chick pit for you. Come on.

Because books.

You want someone to read it first, ita? I make politely ask Stephen do that with emails I'm afraid of.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am working on the assumption that butternut squash is practically pumpkin, and have a pumpkin spice chocolate quickbread in the oven.

Next I have to go do more clearing at my grandmother's. My mother decided to have a yard sale next weekend, but hasn't done any of the actual prep needed for it. Like, we want to sell a chest of drawers that is still full of crap. I feel for her not being able to deal with it, and I am clearly getting all of the benefit of it being done, but I am still a little annoyed with her.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Usually the roosters that crow have a couple hens to lord it over, or another rooster to intimidate. (Chicken-English dictionary: cockadoodle-doo! -> F**k you!) Ones that are by themselves tend to be quieter.

Butternut squash IS practically pumpkin. Though I wonder why we don't ever make butternut squash pie?

We have a rooster as a neighbor, and I didn't realize they just crow all damn day. Apparently they only have one skill, so they just do it ALL DAY.

What brenda said. Yup.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Because butternut squash is a royal PITA.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Butternut squash IS practically pumpkin. Though I wonder why we don't ever make butternut squash pie?

Around here, the variety of squash called buttercup usually has much better flavor than the sugar pumpkins, so we have shamelessly and with malice aforethought made squash pies. Repeatedly. And for family gatherings.

Because books.

I thought the canned pumpkin in stores was generally a mix of pumpkin and butternut squash?

Theater people! Does "black box theater" mean anything to you? I'm doing a story on a group buying the armory here in town, with plans to turn it into a theater for both film and live performance, and it mentions "rental space for studios, offices, and black box theater on the ground floor."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Nah, I just don't want to have those thoughts in my head for a while. Even if she totally triumphed I'll have to deal properly with the idea there was a battle to be had in the first place (or that I thought there was). Right now, light denial is working just fine.

Back when I just escaped to LA, Allyson got roped into front-line listening to voicemails from crazy ex-boss cousin. Which helped in protecting me from having to deal 100%, but also helped with company--sometimes I think I made her up, and have to sideways solicit evidence for her behaviour.

I'm not a theater person, but yes. It's a plain room, painted all black, so you can put the audience and stage/performers however you want.

Cool. Thanks!

I hope the email is helpful when you do read it, ita.
