Why do so many people think it's a good idea to pass on the left on a residential road when someone has their left blinker on and is slowing? This has happened to me often enough getting into work that I watch my rearview like a hawk just before I turn, with the window rolled down so I can shoot my arm out with a STOP signal.
Today our cleaning crew actually got into an accident with some young guy who went speeding past them.
Doesn't help that we're on a curve and it's basically a blind driveway. But, on the left? With the indicators on?
Thankfully no one was physically hurt, although one of the clients was shaky. We fed them up with brownies until E stopped looking so lost and I broke my vow to not talk about t-shirts with him, because E really
really
loves t-shirts to the point where the topic was forbidden him. (Apparently another client really really likes shoes. We just need to find someone who really really likes pants. I don't know what will happen when we do, but I suspect I'll feel a sense of completion).
So, time to talk to the mayor/community services/town hall about a solution. We've had so many near misses and now this hit and I fear for when someone isn't quite so lucky (the cleaners ended up turning into the guy, instead of taking the hit in their side like they could've).

Juliebird, that's scary! I don't really understand why people are passing on the left if the car ahead has its left blinker on. That's, like, the purpose of the blinker! To tell you which way someone is turning!
Times quiz aside, I feel like I've spent every third minute today being an idiot. Which is at least 25% higher than usual.
We also have the added bonus that, while residential, we're also an exit off the highway/service road and people continuing their highway speeds around a sharp curve with multiple driveways, and while the street is wide, there's always some private renovations going on with construction vehicles lining either side of the street. But only on the straight-away which coincides with our front entrance.
I don't know what the answer is, speed humps/bumps, stop light, stop sign (which is also dangerous for those numbnuts not paying attention to
stopped
vehicles in front of them), increased signage for blind driveway and Entrance Ahead (not that these jerkwads would pay attention enough to read them). Is there an uptick in distracted driving. I just can't even begin to understand.

I got a 29, which is high-average (and mostly if I was wrong, it was the other thing I was thinking "well, it could be X or Y....")
I got 19. Which doesn't surprise me.
I really wish this government shutdown would end. I'm starting to freak a little.
Dunno about the shutdown, but apparently Boehner and other Republican leaders admit in private that they're not gonna make the US default on its debt.
So that's two weeks we have to make it through. I think Caltech can carry us for that long.
