Jayne: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. Wash: That's right, of course, 'cause they wouldn't arrest me if we got boarded, I'm just the pilot. I can always say I was flying the ship by accident.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I searched my last name at that link, and got one hit for my father, one for my mother, and one for a cousin who died several years ago.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I tried the unclaimed property thing and it was a MASSIVE pain - I don't know how much money I'm missing, but it's a dividend in my mother's name, listed under an address I had ten years ago. (So in order to claim it, I would need to prove that my mother lived at that address. Which, since she didn't, is not really all that possible.)

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I really like lamb when it's fixed right (usually by Middle Eastern restaurants or me), but it's a lot easier to do badly than beef, so I'm hesitant to order it out at most places.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I'm hesitant to order it out at most places.

Oh, me too (I have the same issue with salmon, as well). But it's so tasty when grilled at home.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

"How much is a new Touch? My version won't run iOS 5." "Mine runs 6, and we have the same one...what error message do you get when you try and update it?" "How do you update it?" "Attached to iTunes?" "I don't attach it to iTunes."

Okay, I can talk you through that, but what it comes down to is that she hadn't noticed the up arrow was the eject symbol, so she was never getting to the screen where all the magic happens. How clear is that to unexpecting eyes on a laptop cranked up to highest res? I see it because I know it.

I don't know what algorithms Swype uses for it's predictive text, but after a text question about blanks recoil, the first word of the next sentence was to be I, What, or Castiel. I almost feel ashamed. Next time I will play along and let it write a Castiel sentence and see what it wants to tell me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yessss! That fucking book.

I'm so tired, you guys. I couldn't fall asleep last night, so I got back up and made some lists and then ended up finishing my book. Zzzzzzzzz.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Day Four of Unemployment Part II (which is way less fun than Wrath of Khan): I went running, did laundry, and made a batch of molasses/five-spice cookies. (Basically molasses cookies but with five-spice instead of cinnamon, really tasty.) Now I have paid my bills and I have to go pick up Dad and take him to see the USS Hornet, an aircraft carrier turned into a museum.

Later I will buy new headphones at Best Buy.

Since the BART strike is looming and it looks like the bus drivers might go out as well, I'm just as glad to be getting out of town: I'm off to Chicago for a week, where I will hang out at my brother's farm in southern Wisconsin and eat for cheap at his restaurant. Gotta take advantage of being unemployed while I can...
