And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think the first one might interest some here.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA yes indeed.

Day Four of Unemployment Part II (which is way less fun than Wrath of Khan): I went running, did laundry, and made a batch of molasses/five-spice cookies. (Basically molasses cookies but with five-spice instead of cinnamon, really tasty.) Now I have paid my bills and I have to go pick up Dad and take him to see the USS Hornet, an aircraft carrier turned into a museum.

Later I will buy new headphones at Best Buy.

Since the BART strike is looming and it looks like the bus drivers might go out as well, I'm just as glad to be getting out of town: I'm off to Chicago for a week, where I will hang out at my brother's farm in southern Wisconsin and eat for cheap at his restaurant. Gotta take advantage of being unemployed while I can...

Que? That doesn't sound awesome.

Coming to San Francisco a week from today

Shit. Maybe we'll keep the rental car instead of returning it. How likely is the strike to happen?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Where are you going in San Francisco? You probably won't need the BART, unless you were planning to go to the East Bay.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

People! I need cute pictures or happy stories, please, while I sit in my office with the door closed, waiting for the urge to go tell a particular person to go f*ck themselves to pass.

I may be here a while.

Coming to San Francisco a week from today

That's the day the strike is likely to start. Keep the car. Unless you're planning to just stay in the city, in which case take a taxi or Uber from the airport and use Muni to get around. As a tourist, you'd only really need BART to get to the East Bay and to/from the airport.

And yes, it's ... likely. According to my sources.

Well, I got the paperwork from the bank on the condo, so it looks like I'm going to be a homeowner. Of course, I've still got to get through the closing and everything that entails (HOW many types of insurance? Seriously?).

Also, early job-ma for Jilli since I will probably be offline when she's interviewing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm off to Chicago for a week, where I will hang out at my brother's farm in southern Wisconsin and eat for cheap at his restaurant. Gotta take advantage of being unemployed while I can...

Ooh, that sounds good.

Um, staying near Hec and JZ, and...I don't know where we were planning to go. Not the East Bay, I don't think.

I think we're planning to stay in the city, and we were going to take a cab or a car service back to the airport when we leave.

Is Muni the bus system? Didn't you say that was likely to strike, or did I misunderstand?

Muni is the San Francisco bus/subway/light rail system. The bus system likely to strike is AC Transit, which is the East Bay bus system (although they also run transbay buses, and that's how I got to work in the city for the past few months).

You'll be fine, except if you intend to rent a car for a day and get out of town, traffic might be heavy, depending on which way you go.
