Go offroad. Can you visit the observatories?
I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the suggestion!
Right now I'm trying a Big Swell IPA from Maui Brewing Co. and trying to stay awake long enough for us to plan what we're doing tomorrow.

Oh my god. I know someone who graduated Middlebury in 2012 -- I should ask her if she knows him.
That resume makes me laugh really hard, and I can't imagine who would hire him.
I would totally hire him just because it made me laugh, but I hire student workers!
Well, a company that would hire him off of that is probably one he'd be very happy at.
That's one way to do it, anyway. I'm reminded of my friend Ian, who had a very large iguana that he'd take for walks. He said that it was a chick-magnet -- at least for the type of women he would be interested in.
Note that Mr. Redmon is already accepted for a PhD program this fall so he can afford to be as wacky as he wants for now.
Timelies all!
That's...quite a resume.
Meanwhile, I have to keep reminding myself that I cannot spend the whole day in my pajamas, sitting in front of the computer. Sigh.
Or are they some kind of scary Texas ant?
Nope, the tiny ones. Husband has some kind of paranoia about putting vinegar on the floor/paint -- I don't even know.

Why not?
I was going to say ...
Is "tasking you out" a new thing? I hate job lingo.
FEMA employees might also be furloughed.
We are still in flood recovery here with a strong FEMA presence. The governer has declared that if the government shut down messes with their pay, he will find a way within the state government to pay them.
I work for an agency that isn't appropriated by Congress (we charge fees to the entities that we supervise). So even though I'm a federal employee, I'm at work today. (I don't get the time off, but I do get the paycheck. I'll let others argue over whether I get the better or worse of the deal.)
The commute was lighter than normal but busier than you'd expect. Traffic was heavy but generally moving on the roads. Probably 1/3 fewer people than normal on Metro, which means that there were some empty seats. It just feels weird today, but I don't know how much of that may be just me.
I walked up to the Mall during lunch yesterday. A few people around, but fewer than normal. I'll check it out again today, time permitting.
Overall impression: Far less effect than the 1995-96 shutdowns.
