Because books.

If the email I just sent to a guy at work had been sent to my mother when I was in high school, I would have been rightly accused of "tone."

If I don't use a tone with this guy, he doesn't understand anything I say, so I feel justified. Also, he's a dumbass, and I don't work in his department anymore.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I started a thread on the IO9 natter section, and I am getting posts deleted/demoted all over the place. One guy doesn't want incest mentioned around SPN, and he got really mad when I told him a) Wincest fic is canon and b) he's wrong to say no brothers want to fuck each other.

So now I'm an incest-existence defender. But why would a person, in the world, challenge anyone else to list instances of sibling incest? I creeped myself out making the list, and then he refused to read it.

Also pointing out that three of the most recent Holmes adaptation have cheerfully played with slash themselves, so don't be mad at your friend for doing it, got me dismissed by someone else.

One of my new responsibilities is clearly boss-wrangler. I need to walk him through things to extract thoughts from his brain to make the presentation he wants for a meeting I won't attend, in order to incorporate feedback I wasn't given. I don't mind, but it's interesting.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd think Oedipus is even more creep-inducing than brother-brother.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Surgery ~ma for Grace! Good vibes for everyone, there seems to be a lot going on today. Consuela, glad your vertigo cleared up, that's scary.

Now I'm having nostalgia for England Dan and John Ford Coley and Bread songs.

Related to music, I should know better than to show any interest in the song playing on someone's iPod-through-the-stereo. "Oh, you'd like this guy! Here, let me give you YouTube links to his songs! Do you like it? It's good, right? I LOVE them and I bet you will too! Here's some more that are like that! Do you like them?" Oh, god. No, in fact, I don't. How do you tell a new friend that you don't like a single one of these songs that they seem so invested in? I just got a bunch of links to "geek" music that I "should be listening to" and I don't much care for any of them. Okay, the one about asking Stephen Fry to give her a baby was cute, but this just isn't my thing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't think you have to tell someone you don't like their music, unless they INSIST.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Surgery~ma to Grace, coping~ma to Kat. I was at the hospital, or rather at the medical center, today too taking my sister to a doctor's appointment.

I don't get why someone would challenge the claim that sibling incest exists. Maybe they misunderstood? I notice many people mistake acknowledgement for approval.

Because they can't handle the idea, therefore something so disturbing simply cannot be true? People do that all the time.

Because books.

I'm pretty sure sibling incest is just as prevalent as parent/child. At least in the case of the (fictional, I know) Winchesters, nobody's having babies.

If she asks, tell her it's not your thing. If she doesn't ask, don't tell her anything. I've never been hurt by someone not sharing musical taste (dismayed, condescending, disappointed, derisive, yes. But not hurt).

therefore something so disturbing simply cannot be true? People do that all the time.

I don't get that either. His response to me was "your examples were mostly twins, so they don't count." Not only were they not mostly twins (I pulled the first five age differences for him--from 13 months to 14 years), how does twin brothers having sex not count as brothers having sex? AND HOW CAN HE STILL THINK IT DOESN'T HAPPEN???

Because books.

Why on earth wouldn't twins count? That's just dumb.
