I'm trying to take the attitude that they simply found someone really suited, who hasn't been on the sidelines of the industry for a while, but it's sort of translating into "you are old" and "all your experience is now irrelevant".

All my sympathies, Amy. I know how it feels, to be turned down for jobs you know you can do. It's hard, because the market is flooded with applicants, and employers can afford to be ridiculously picky. If they want a left-handed writer with exactly 12.7 years of experience, and green eyes, they can find them.
It's not a slam on your abilities, but on the fact that we're competing with a ton of other equally-qualified people.

As for me, today's the first day of unemployment (again). Overslept and now I'm going to take the dog for a long run. I've been putting on some weight and my jeans are getting tight, and this shit needs to stop.
