Because books.

I didn't make the second round for the publishing job. I really wish he hadn't chosen first thing Monday morning to tell me that.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm sorry, Amy.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

A big boo on him, Amy.

My fever abated during the night, but I still have a monster headache and feel icky. I have no idea what this is.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Oh, Amy, that sucks so hard. I know how you feel, and it's just a punch to the ego.

Because books.

I'm trying to take the attitude that they simply found someone really suited, who hasn't been on the sidelines of the industry for a while, but it's sort of translating into "you are old" and "all your experience is now irrelevant".

BUT. I did write 500+ words of a new project this morning, so that's a good thing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Booooo, Amy! You are not irrelevant.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

He'll rue the day.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

All my sympathies, Amy. I know how it feels, to be turned down for jobs you know you can do. It's hard, because the market is flooded with applicants, and employers can afford to be ridiculously picky. If they want a left-handed writer with exactly 12.7 years of experience, and green eyes, they can find them.

It's not a slam on your abilities, but on the fact that we're competing with a ton of other equally-qualified people.
