I would really like to go home and work in my yard. Can anyone make that happen?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

This is a post from Serious Eats letting people know that a member of their community has died. (I don't know this person and was just curious what the thread was about.) But the embedded picture made me laugh so hard! Even though it's still sad. [link]

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Jesse, that's awesome.

I have a colleague - not an applicant! - who is in the habit of handwritten thank you notes. Like, I mentioned to her that we were having a potluck in our group (which she had been hoping to join) and that she should stop by if she was around. She didn't make the potluck but I got a fancy engraved cardstock thank you via interoffice mail the next day.

Wow, that is hardcore.

reminds me of the joke from the Sugarbaker brother on Designing Women - DO you know why Junior League women hate group sex? All the Thank you notes.

Ha!

I do like a thank-you note, I admit it. Although I would not send one regarding a work potluck.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

A work potluck she didn't even attend! And this is only one of like six I've gotten from her for various reasons.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

One of my grad school classmates really liked handwritten notes. Like, any time I did the slightest favor for him -- the sort of thing where anybody else would just say "Thanks, I appreciate it," -- he'd write a thank-you note. I once told him about an article I'd read in the New Yorker, and he said it sounded interesting, so I emailed the link to him, and he wrote me a note telling me what he thought about the article.

ION, I just got an email from KIVA that I had a balance and could lend again. Turns out from a few gift cards and a couple of donations, I have made deposits of $110. From that I have loaned over $600! so cool. Turns out I have no invited anyone into Kiva though, so if anyone has wanted to do it and would like an invite (I do not think you need one to participate and I do not get anything from you joinging from my invite), let me know.

Also, it kinda makes me wanna start a B.org recycling loan thingy. I wonder if we could manage that?
