Oh dear, Consuela. May the vertigo from whatever cause go away quickly.
My weekend wasn't near as interesting as Matt's. I did however get quite a bit more reading done than usual and a bunch of swimming so I'm calling it a win.
May your brother and his intended begin their lives together surrounded by so much love and joy that they cannot feel any lack in any particular direction.
I can't express it any better than this.
And my brother the doctor called & thinks it might be viral labrynthitis, which Wikipedia tells me can last a week, and then might need months of PT to recover from. (!!!)
That sounds like what I had a few years ago. I would have not been able to type as well as you did a day into it, though. It lasted about a week (most of which I was in the hospital getting a lot of anti-viral and anti-nausea meds) but I didn't have any PT after I recovered. I maybe should have, though, because it took a long time for my balance to get back to where it was before it hit. It's never come back, though, thank goodness!!
Thanks, folks. After further consultation and a look at Wikipedia, it's more likely I have Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
[link]
which is caused by a little bit of material in the inner ear getting loose and causing havoc in the inner ear canals. The solution is this complicated series of maneuvers by which you get it out of the canal and back into a location where it can't do any damage. Basically it's like using one of those handheld games with the ball and the maze, and you have to tilt and turn it so it goes the right direction.
So I did the exercise a few times and I do feel a bit better. But I'm not going to jump out of bed or anything, and I will not be going into the office tomorrow.
I am grateful that it's basically a mechanical problem, though, and doesn't require medication or surgical intervention.
And now I'm going to lay back down and listen to some more audiobook.
Just piping in to say, not only has Matt won the weekend, I think he may have won July.
He is in the running for winning 2013.
It is the best weekend I've had in a long while. And it's a three day one, where I go to watch indie films, and get together with a former roomie for discounted all-you-can-eat steak at a churrascaria tomorrow.
I still have a ton of house-cleaning ahead of me today, but at the end I get to see my brother, sil and niece, AND we get to see Blue Man Group. So all worth it, right?
I skimmed. The Blue Man Group is cleaning your house?
If only! I wouldn't even mind the blue makeup smears, truly.
