Barely looked at my research statement, since I've barely done any research since the last time I edited it, but I know that I can at least improve the section on how I can supervise undergrads in related research. Need to edit my CV, but that won't take too long. Still need a few more letters of recommendation.

Two years ago, one of the professors in my department observed one of my classes and wrote up a summary of the visit, which was very complimentary. I don't really know her, though. Is it appropriate to email her and ask if she could write me a letter of recommendation?
