Although -- I didn't think about this before -- the dress has no zipper; I can't step into it, but have to pull it over my head. Which is no big deal in general, but -- I'm getting my hair done at 11 a.m., and not going to wear my dress all day (obvs.). So...how do I pull my dress over my head so as to keep my poofy hairdo from getting fucked up?

(NO ONE answer "carefully.")

Would putting a scarf over my hair first help?

Aw!

Coworker Chad for the win: not only did he make gestures and grin as I walked past a long distance away, then when we were in the same space, he said, "Your new haircut is adorable!" (Chad also wears a bowtie. He is a sweetie.)

Yay Chad!

There's a craft beer bar/comic book store in the works here that's going to be called "My Parents' Basement."

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Steph, I would need the help of someone taller than me to ease the dress over my hair. To be honest, I need that all the time.

I, uh, am too body conscious to let anyone help. My mother is bone thin and always has been, and my size has always been a point of contention between us, and I will be damned if I stress myself more on my wedding day by letting her see my in my bra and undies. I just can't do it.

So I'm putting the dress on by myself in the large bathroom of the B&B's bedroom, for the sake of my sanity.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Tep, can you have a friend your size to help? (btw, I empathize. same stuff going on for me, with less volume to the contention).

I would think a scarf would help the hair, at least preventing it from being caught in things. Some sort of very chic, loose turban thing.

I was thinking just sort of draping it over my hair loosely -- like this, very loose and not wrapped around my neck: [link]
