Watched a clip from Rango, and damn but Oly gives good Eastwood.

Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Nilly, it's good to see your pixels, and while we miss you a lot, you haven't offended by your absence. We'd be *happier* if you managed to drop by more often. But we understand life gets busy and obligations come first.
Jesse, honestly, I'd go by the smell. If you can find a bin of each type that's been closed tight for a while, see which one is less objectionable and buy those. I have some I use, but can't snap the lid on because they contaminate everything they contain with the smell.
There was such a staunch base of support and solid comfort here on that day, such swift provision of fact and quick aid for locating people when phones were overloaded. When I tell people about this place, how we helped each other through that day is something I always cite.
I don't like R&I because the writing is pedestrian and the acting slightly less good than that. The single charismatic actor is gone, and I respond emotionally to that more than I can imagine reacting to anything on the show for a long time.
I can't take Isles' emotional stuntedness and Rizzoli's cluelessness with girl things when she's clearly girled up just fine. I can't deal with how stupid most of the Rizzolis are, and how hyper dramatic Isles' stuff is without my ability to work out why anyone feels like they feel (I should at least be able to trace larger back to the life).
I get that Rizzoli is braver than everyone ever and more noble, but never felt that she was brighter. I started paying attention to how much she solves and it's true, she solves more, but she doesn't read brighter, which...their call. But not something that moves me about her character in either direction. Isles' intelligence is played for laughs as much as it is played for useful. Which turns me off.
I hadn't realised how much I had brought from Young's Flashforward character (that I adored) to this show (in which I liked his character a lot).
It is Bechdeled up the wazoo, but it's not fun for me without Frost, so borderline is tipped to negative.
All totally fair and true points. I watch it with no expectation of even remembering the episode an hour later, so I have less stringent requirements.
Happy Birthday, Trudy!
Hi, Nilly!
I'm watching PBS tonight: it's a special on Billie Jean King, and the clips of the various journalists and announcers are just... horrifying. I lived through this, although I was a child, and it amazes me how far we've come. It was so patronizing, so snide and sneering. Gah.
I was up late watching Miss Represented on Netflix last night. We really haven't come a long way, Baby.
Just been informed there may be rolling blackouts. Joy.
I like the idea of Rizzoli and Isles more than I like the show. Which is too bad, but I have too many shows.
I'm just glad there's a show out there chock full of lesbian subtext that seems to be written with an eye toward the enjoyment of lesbians rather than drooling straight guys.
I agree with erika. I also like it for the lesbian subtext.
Happy birthday, Trudy!
