In terms of inflamtion. My Mom has gone on the nonightshades diet - no tomatoes, potatoes, sweet peppers (green peppers and such) no hot peppers, no chiles, no paprika, no red pepper, no eggplant, no tobacco. White and black pepper is still OK. It has helped her a lot. Warning: the science behind looks like total bullshit, but I'm not going to tell her to stop doing something that results in less pain. The nice thing about it is that if works, it works within 48 hours at most, usually a lot less so if you don't see improvement within a couple of days you can forget it. I know other people who it works for. I suspect what is going on is an allergy to those things rather than the reasons given.

Just got back from seeing our friend Brian in his one man show. he always brings his shows out here from NYC once a year for a couple of nights. It was in a tiny, 99-seat theater with hand-built risers. The show was great, and in the audience were some friends B recently worked with--Christopher McDonald, Courtney B. Vance and Tom Hanks. I was too shy to actually go meet Tom Hanks. B and his wife are staying with us, so we'll get to hear about the after-show shenanigans later.

It was cancelled this year because the hotel they signed a contract with told them in April it was shutting down a week before the con dates, and they couldn't get another hotel.) Did I mention my brother, SiL and niece are visiting next Monday? He didn't tell me until yesterday, which I suppose is grounds for complaint, but it will be extra-nice to have them to show around/spend time with.
(They're staying in a Cambridge B&B, so it's not a surprise houseguest visit at least!)
