We also noticed that a few of them got stuck in an empty bottle of tequila we left on the counter, so an excuse to drink?
Hah! I like this plan. I've been using vinegar traps, and it's killed a bunch of them, but part of the problem was that we had them, and then my roommate got more fruit and left it sitting on the counter. I have no idea what she was thinking. I've gotten rid of it all now, and I think it'll just take some time, but it's gross and frustrating meanwhile--yesterday one flew into my coffee (iced) in the living room, when I still had half a cup left! Boo.
Pray that they're actually fruit flies and not fungus flies. Mom & Dad had the latter for months, and it took rooting up the kitchen plumbing and removing a bad pipe to get rid of them.
Chemical weapons! If you can get them to congregate in one area--with a yogurt container, or a piece of fruit on a paper plate--then you can spray them with Lysol.

I refuse to put yummy garden tomatoes in the fridge at this time of year, so I put them in a ceramic bowl with a dishtowel tightly wrapped around it, which seems to keep the fruit flies away.
Sorry about the stomach bug, Lee. And about the literal bugs, meara and sj.
I am still working on making breakfast for myself, so it's not going to be a super productive day. But if it's an at all productive day I think I'll count it as a win. We'll see how it goes...
Sorry about the puke unexpected.
I've got 20 minutes to board. It's a one stop, but same plane so the edibles will be slim. I had a couple corn soft tacos for breakfast with the leftover pork al carbon and chile ( plus spinach to maintain tortilla integrity.) Bought overpriced hummus and pretzels & cashews behind security since we has a tire issue on the way down and they didn't think there was time to hit Albertson's( there was.)
I won't starve. Aw, mom packed me a nectarine...
I had a real fruit fly problem that the vinegar traps weren't catching a couple days before a party -- fly paper from Lowe's helped a lot. Also bleach solution down sinks, because that's sometimes the source.
I brought home a new TV from Costco and am now in gadget nerd heaven setting it all up. Happiness is a 50" LED display and shiny new Harmony remote settings.
As soon as we get a power strip for the bedroom, I can hook up the Roku to the TV in there and then we will be able to play Angry Birds and watch House of Cards on every screen in the house.
So, "fungus flies?"
lovely. now I have something new to worry about.
The $6 fruit fly trap I bought at Walgreens was highly effective and was endlessly fascinating for the cast and crew of my last show.
