It's nice, I intend to enjoy it while it lasts. A hummingbird is sitting at my feeder, waiting out the rain.
It's sunny now, but still cool in my office. I am cleaning...since it's been 90-105 in my office for the last two weeks.

Can I just say ugh. I woke up around 5:00 this morning to discover that either I ate something bad yesterday or I caught the stomach thing that was going around the office early in the week on delay. I felt better when I woke up again, and I really wanted to go to SF to see Maria, so I tested the whole up and moving thing with a quick trip to TJs. That didn't work all that well (boo), and then when I got home I discovered at least one of the menagerie is also feeling poorly.
At least which ever beast it was made it to the garage.
I am up and awake, but not sure what I want to do with my day. Or how to schedule it. I need to finish painting, gotta figure out if I need any more supplies or if I'm good.
And what should I make for the BBQ I've been invited to, tomorrow? They're making pulled pork.
BBQ beans or cole slaw. Or mac & cheese.
Ooh, mac&cheese might be a good idea. I looked again, they said they'd have potato salad and a green salad, so I emailed asking if they'd rather I bring cobbler, cupcakes, or a quinoa/bean side dish. The first two would be fun because I hardly get a chance to bake these days (don't have places to bring them and can't eat a whole batch myself!), and the latter would be good because I could leave some at home and eat off it. But mac&cheese sounds delicious also...
Things that are making me nuts: FRUIT FLIES. OMG. I feel like there are so damn many in teh house I could be running biology experiments! I have cleaned as best I could, and I put out a bunch of traps which have killed a ton of them, but there seem to still be a ton left. EW.

I feel your pain. What kind of traps are you using? After a couple of weeks of vinegar traps, we only have a few stubborn ones left. We also noticed that a few of them got stuck in an empty bottle of tequila we left on the counter, so an excuse to drink?

Hah! I like this plan. I've been using vinegar traps, and it's killed a bunch of them, but part of the problem was that we had them, and then my roommate got more fruit and left it sitting on the counter. I have no idea what she was thinking. I've gotten rid of it all now, and I think it'll just take some time, but it's gross and frustrating meanwhile--yesterday one flew into my coffee (iced) in the living room, when I still had half a cup left! Boo.
Pray that they're actually fruit flies and not fungus flies. Mom & Dad had the latter for months, and it took rooting up the kitchen plumbing and removing a bad pipe to get rid of them.
Chemical weapons! If you can get them to congregate in one area--with a yogurt container, or a piece of fruit on a paper plate--then you can spray them with Lysol.

I refuse to put yummy garden tomatoes in the fridge at this time of year, so I put them in a ceramic bowl with a dishtowel tightly wrapped around it, which seems to keep the fruit flies away.
