I bumped into a John Hughes marathon on tv. Do I own all the movies? Yes. Am I still watching the chopped up tv versions? Well, duh.
They're so PERKY!
For whatever reason my tired brain read that as John HOLMES. You can see why I'm laughing my ass off.
I've been exhausted all day -- barely able to get out of bed this morning, had to force myself to stay awake during office hours, feeling sick by the time I was done teaching -- but now that I can go to bed, I can't get to sleep. I don't know what's up with this.
Tried out my new manual ceramic burr grinder - grinding only enough for one cup didn't take too too much effort and made for a damn fine cup of coffee. In other breakfast news, smoked salmon and brie is pretty yum.
Dang it, I forgot to get smoked salmon at Trader Joe's yesterday. My breakfast is sad.
Timelies all!
At WorldCon, about to pick up our badges.
That's where I got mine!
Eta: smoked salmon, that is. I don't need no stinkin' badges.
TJs has good smoked salmon for the best price I can find. I have a running list in my head of stuff like that (I understand some people actually keep a literal price notebook or spreadsheet or whatever to compare prices between stores). TJs wins on smoked salmon, nuts (by a mile), olive oil, gluten-free oats, gluten-free pasta, and generally cheese.
Judging by the batch of emails I got last night, I've got a whole bunch of really stressed-out students this semester. And it's just the first week of class. I have a feeling this is going to be a long semester.
The what-to-buy where breakdown I keep in my head is much more about availability than price (the shopping list on my phone will do the price comparison for me, but I don't really use it except to occasionally delay getting something I kinda want but don't need right now). TJ's is excellent for when I need deli stuff, but does me no good if I want frozen meals or allergy medicine (both of which I may need to go out and get tomorrow) for example.
