Also, I am totes buying a new mattress this Monday. Our old one came to us in 1996 and was not new then, which now that I type it out, that is embarrassing. Man.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I definitely intend to go longer-term on the real furniture and see what I can get for free/cheap this weekend (and into the future, but most people are moving this weekend, so I bet there's a lot of free stuff out there on Sunday.)

Really, it's all doable, and I probably wouldn't have thought twice about any of it a few years ago -- being responsible is harder than not!

Then my other question is how to figure out if my dentist is any good. The cleanings are fine, but the crown that needs to be replaced has been wonky since I got it, and I'd prefer not to repeat that experience.

Because books.

Jesse, you can do it if you make a plan to pay the debt back down? (Go to Paris, is what I'm saying.)

Our mattress was new when I was pregnant with Jake in 1991. It's a little embarrassing. And saggy.

I should definitely go to Paris. I can stay with a friend, is why it would be this year.

It's the crown I would put off some more!

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I just went to listen to the JV Club podcast, and Jane Espenson is on it. I said "JANE!" like we all said "GILES!" when he came back.

Oddly my mattress has held up pretty well despite being 18 years old. Though I suppose always sleeping on the comfy couch while living in Memphis effectively cuts its age down to 14.

See, whereas I bought my mattress all of six or seven years ago, and am thinking I may need a new one. OTOH, it's lots more comfy than the hotel I was in last week, so..

I would prioritize crown, Paris, and try to figure out a way to self-move with cheap hired help (local students for $10 an hour?), and go longer-term on new furniture (or ask my sister the Craigslist Wonder to shop for you. That girl is an antiques cheapskate of magic proportions.)

TOTALLY have Nutty buy for you! She's in your town! :) I myself would not cheap out on the movers--having moved many times, it was so incredibly worth it to have other people do it the last time I moved. But if you're not moving (much) furniture, it might be OK.

I just agreed to spend $6K on landscaping/creating a patio. I think it'll be awesome once it's done, but I can't believe I just agreed to that. I need to stop spending All The Money, but there's tons of stuff going on the next few months that I'll need to. Eek!

Original Mattress Factory. They rock. Plus, they're one of the only places that still sells flippable mattresses.

hip deep in pie

You guys, can we talk about money? I want to go to Paris in the winter/spring, and need to hire movers, and probably get a bunch of new furniture (and I'm sick of cheap furniture), AND I need to replace a crown for $500. I do not have money for all of these things! But I think I should still do them all. Going back into debt for a little bit is OK, right?

I pretty much paid off my Dublin trip all winter and spring. It was worth it. I don't regret spending a penny. Most of the time I wonder why I waited so long to go. I am itching to travel again, but I am still not entirely debt free, I am a terrible saver, and there are lots of things I need. I am in the same boat.

I am also obsessed with looking on Google flights...There was a cheap flight from Halifax to Paris for weeks (for October), and then suddenly there was a flight to Dublin yesterday...But since I have been applying for jobs, I feel too unsettled to plan a vacation.

Yeah, I'm all about good movers. Especially since they had to take off my apartment door to get the sofa in...
