Thanks for the How Stuff Works link -- that explains a whole lot! And I see by the notes I wrote down with my pre-procedure call with the nurse (to go over what I had to do with the prep) that the drugs they were going to use were Versed and Fentanyl.
If there IS a next time (probably, if they want a screening every X years from now on), maybe I can talk them out of the Versed, so I can remember. Or else talk them into taping me and my questions. Or let me post on Facebook during, which would be hi-larious. (Maybe not that....)
Actually, I barely remember dressing myself after the procedure, or being walked over to the recovery alcove. I guess I know what it's like to be roofied -- in the safest way possible.
The versed's not only there so you don't remember, Theo. It's there so you're calm and it doesn't bother you. I know which way I want to gamble when people are poking about.
I have to read the AP feed for work, and it's all Syria today. It's a little unnerving.
I didn't mean to kill the thread, though. Sorry.
Jeez, Amy.
Nah, just kidding. A half-hour isn't even a thread nap!
I am trying to put together a package of information for my boss to prepare her for a meeting with a higher-up that will show my effort. Good times.
That sounds like an unfun.
I'm debating the merits of publicly correcting all the spelling errors in my new manager's emails. Probably not a good idea, I guess.
Icing is only really a useful thing for the first 48 hours. But, you know, my limping experiment this morning was a rousing failure.
When I ice I can't feel shit for a little. Even if it's just palliative, if I follow the same on-off guidelines it's not contraindicated, right?
It just feels dumb.
I vote yes to icing, no to correcting your manager publicly.
I also vote that it should be spelled publically.
Apparently I used up too much willpower only eating 9 Doritos last night to stay within my carb limit, because I ended up foregoing my walk this morning for a solid hour of cat petting instead. But I got one of the fluffy new kittens to come up on my steps and see what was going on with its siblings at the food dish, and found out it's eating solid food now. Even the mama cat that still hisses at me every time we make eye contact went up on the porch to eat after I'd walked away.
I also learned that male cats can pee directly backwards when spraying their territory, and not to stand below the level of a flower bed when the big Tom is prowling through it.
And my neighbor sheepishly assured me that his sheepoodlezilla is really a friendly dog, despite barking his head off at me and freaking out when I held a hand out for him to smell.
