Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. Now they're just nothing. They got out to the edge of the galaxy, to that place of nothing, and that's what they became.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm officially tired of being in this hotel. We have dinner reservations with family for 7:30. It will take us at least an hour to get there. What are the odds that my husband will get out of his training class at or before 6?

brillig

My husband still complains (a little) every time I cut my hair.

Hey, when did you marry my husband, you hussy!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I haven't tried putting goop in my hair and sleeping with it, but I might. Messy, is all.

Theo, do you mean Propecia? I didn't think they prescribed that for women at all ever.

I shampoo two or three times a week, and use conditioner only the rest of the time. I use sulfate-free shampoo, but that's been a recent change. I think what's drying my hair out the worst is the hair dye, though.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Zen,

it isn't messy when I do it. If it is messy, you are doing it wrong. put in a generous amount, but don't oversaturate. For me, I would bet I put in 1-2 tablespoons.

Okay. I probably put in too much the time I did it, because it was an oil slick by morning! And then it all washed out and nothing was better, alas.

You also might try Lush's Retread conditioner. The smell is a trip, but my hair likes it a lot.

information libertarian

My hair is below shoulder length right now and I am thinking a lot about going back to the pixie. I love the ease of super-short hair, but I worry that I look kind of mannish.

I didn't understand the hair panic until I went to get my hair cut for basic training. Yeah, it'll grow back, and it's not rational, and it wasn't like I was in love with my hair.

Then, after I got sick of my hair flopping into my eyes during PT, I got a pixie cut and was in love. And the next time I was due a haircut, there wasn't a salon, and so went to the barber and got a high-and-tight, and while it was unflattering, I was deliriously happy over the extra minutes I was able to sleep because showering was shorter and I didn't even need to brush my hair, let alone do it up/style it. And otherwise, I would have needed to wear a hairnet for airborne school. I did shoulder-length eventually, opting for pigtail braids that I could pin up, but work ended up showing that long hair led to branches snagging shit out of place and went back to short.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hey other parents - is Care.com a scam or is it worth the membership price? I put up a free ad for an after-school sitter, just on a whim, but of course you have to pay in order to contact any of the sitters who respond. And I've gotten a TON of responses, some of which seem very good on paper. But I don't know if I want to plunk down $40 on this.
