Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This

I remember feeling like a vulture, packing a black jumper to take on my emergency trip home when my dad was in the hospital for organ failure. It was pretty clear that if he survived it was going to be a miracle, but even so. He did die later that week and I was glad I didn't have to worry about shopping in the middle of preparing for the funeral.
That sinkhole vid was incredible!
I wish more stories were highlighting the fact that it was caused by drilling and most of the town has had to evacuate.
I just violated my own rule by chiding someone for running yet another graphic criticizing Obama for standing under an umbrella held by a Marine. Juliebird -- they were doing something with an insufficiently documented (those pesky regulations!) salt dome, which turned out to be Very Unstable. So, basically, a very Big Cave collapsed underneath the swamp. Not only is it sucking down whole sections of land, it's belching up crude oil and explosive gases.
Jesus Christ. I thought it was an amazing natural phenomenon. Should've known better.
Which is not to say it's not an awesome (old sense) vid.
Truly.
