Ah, well, ZK. Good looking out, though! I wish it could have been otherwise.
I must have applied for over 100 jobs easy last time I was out of work. Not only did none of the Monster/Hotjobs/automated website ones turn into anything, no one contacted me to say so--just drifted into the ether. Calli, I'm sad you got turned down, but I'm glad they told you.
This time around I'm going to try and find as many recruiters as possible, because that's all that's worked for me in the past.
While still doing the online stuff, because that would be silly to risk.
he's graduating from Albany High School and will be attending Sonoma State College starting in late August.
There's something wrong with this sentence I just can't put my finger on. OTHER THAN ALL OF IT.
Congratulations, BTW.
Wow David, that is quite a momentous day in so many ways. Oh how I Do Not Miss the school commute. Every once in a while Bobby's car is misbehaving and I have to drive him to college. But no more of the every day commute thing is beautiful. Also - Go Graduate! College is so much easier for all concerned than HS in my opinion.

That was my experience before, too, so I'm pleasantly surprised to have an answer, even if it's not the one I wanted.
I found out another resume made it past the first screening, which is nice. I should be looking for more openings, but my post-college BFF is visiting tonight, so I think I'll take a break. I did put everything into a nice spreadsheet.
Also - Go Graduate!
It wasn't easy!
His first semester this year he pulled down a 3.3 GPA and was looking good. Then after his college applications went out, he went on a serious senior slide, and got hauled up on academic probation as his GPA slid to 1.3.
But he pulled it together to finish at an umimpressive yet entirely passing 2.6 GPA and he's out the door and on to the next adventure.
It's been a stressful year. He broke out in hives for six weeks. But we had really good talk in the car this morning: sweet, thoughtful, reflective, present.
Oh man, David. I remember that period well. Hard to believe you're on the other side of it now. (And a few other minor changes in the interim.)

Allergies.
Darth Tigger is graduating? That's...unpossible! And yet EXCELLENT. Go Emmett!
Holy cow! Congrats to Emmett and them that raised him!!
No question that going through high school sucks more as a parent than as the student. I would go through it multiple times myself rather than try and drag the boys through it again.
Is he excited about college? What kind of a program is he entering? (forgive me if I should know this, mind like sieve you know)
Congratulations to Emmet and his family!
