To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.

Hooray to Grace.

Msbelle, my cat Pico frequently got sick when I went away. I am hoping that is just this for Oz.

I've been looking at Air BnB for Dublin in the fall. I couldn't stay in the city's narrowest house. I just wish there were reviews for it. [link]

Ann, that's a ferret.

Arthur is back in the hospital. His kidney values were getting worse, and the vets fear either infection or rejection. It looks like we caught it early -- kidney values aren't even that bad. But it's something we don't need at the moment.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Oh, no. Good health ~ma for Arthur!

ita, yes, you can send the picture on to Colin.

Like everything in our world with G, decannulation is not as simple as you would think. We'll have to come back in 2 weeks for ANOTHER surgery. And then 4 weeks. And then a few weeks after that.

Right now she has a big GAPING hole in her neck that isn't like to close for, oh the estimates are, a few months.

WHAT?!? It's worse with a bandaid on it, but I swear, when she gets home, we are bandaiding each day. CRAZY.

Because books.

That's not an infection risk or anything, Kat? Weird!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Ah well, at least it's a "new" problem instead of the same old ones.

Am fighting a headache and not winning particularly well. Trying hard not to think about the phone interview tomorrow.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh dear, Kat. That's going to be an adjustment for all of you. I suppose that hole will impact swimming?

and I disbelieve that they have much to tell me about work/life balance other than "sorry, your job sucks for that"

If it's anything like the online sexual harrassment training I'm required to take EVERY YEAR, it comes with a side order of "about that work/life balance thing, the onus is on you to find it and maintain it" and a dash of "don't let it impact your productivity at work."

I just spent the morning with a family friend helping me sort through books and figure out which ones are worth selling (answer: very few). She is one of my dad's high school friends and she's just so lovely. We had a nice time chatting while we went through the books.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I keep getting cards from my high school about updating my information in some directory, so I finally called last night. They were trying to shill a book or a CD with information about graduates, so I opted not to buy anything and provided only minimal information about myself.

It's not exactly hard to find me if you want to. Everyone who ever went to my high school does not need my goddamn phone number.
