COOKING IS SCIENCE!
Heh. When my nephew first saw my "Baking is science for hungry people" apron he said no it wasn't because with baking you know how it will turn out. That led to a nice discussion about repeatable experiments.

I love that apron!
I have that apron, too! My aunt got it for me.
I just showed the kids Cake Wrecks, and Dillo was like, "You have to show this to your Buffista friends!" I was like, I think they know.
Awww, Dillo. He's got our backs.
Ho ho, I don't know? The same place I find the willpower not to fling what I'm carrying at your faces and run screaming from the elevator? Because the other options are things like unemployability and death?
And prison. That's a valid reason I sometimes don't do more than wish to murder people.
I have wine. It's also very hot. We'll see what the result of *this* experiment is.
In my super scientific experimentation, it means the puppy does not get to go to the dog park after dinner and will have to deal with running after the newly re-batteried laser pointer at home. Because it was hot today and that wine went to my head. Conclusion: wine means no dog park. Which, I've been reliably informed, I should not approach.
Which, I've been reliably informed, I should not approach.
Truth.
K-Bug, CJ, and I went out to our local pizza pub for dinner tonight and got there right as they were starting trivia. Turns out we are a great team and we ended up winning the night. Our first venture into a trivia night and now we have a gift cert for the restaurant, so we may go back on another Monday for more trivia.
Been dark a while. Have a meara:
My situation is that I'm editing Engineers, last place was Chemists (no tech writers in residence). So they're not EXPECTED to be able to write. I keep thinking "job security" - except I'm supposed to be laid off sometime next year (however, the Engineers aren't - the User Manuals should be AMAZING in 2016).
Epic, where are you editing Engineers? My employer (IEEE) will probably be hiring editors soon, you should keep an eye on the jobs site.
Aunt Mary is much dotterier and easily confused. She got totally confused switching rooms this morning. My mom handled her fine, but mom hugged me tight when I left and told me to please tell her or dad or josh or aunt sue if she ever gets like that and start getting drs involved. Her kids just see her a little more flaky. Um, no.
Since it happened to my mom, I feel like I'm more aware of it. My BFF's mom seems to be getting more senile, but BFF just thinks she's being stubborn and cruel. Which, to be fair, she is.
2nd leg to Charlottesville (bats eyes at Zenkitty).
bats eyes back at Laura!
Lots of job~ma, Calli and ita. Sorry. You might check IEEE's jobs website. We offer full-time telecommuting, and AFAIK that goes for IT too.
Teppy, you can totally do that job!
tommyrot, I'm glad MRIs are easy to get, and I hope all is well with your brain.
The upshot of this evolutionary change is that random liver/metabolic enzymes show up in some people and not in others, which makes certain kinds of drugs a crapshoot.
Can they not test for liver enzymes before giving the drugs? Or, well, I guess after giving the drugs, too see how much enzymes get made. Seems like it ought to be possible.
When they were deciding on meds for me the doctor did a cheek swab for a genetic report that came back with listings of all the things I could absolutely never take, things that worked too well, and things that didn't work at all.
Yeah, like that. I want one of those. Maybe it would tell me why I react so oddly to drugs.
Whoa, Zenkitty, you were right, they are not gonna call it Superbowl L, at least not in the official graphics. Apparently the "L" is "not pleasing to the eye".
Nailed it! I saw they were just calling it "Superbowl 50". I bet they stick with Arabic numerals after this.
So, the house is painted, and the shrubs are trimmed back, and the old desk has been hauled away, and the scary dryer vent has been cleaned out. That's a pretty good pile of accomplishment for a weekend + a Monday.
Hey there, Zenkitty!
Nice, Suzi (and team).
I like wine.
Hey Zenkitty!
I like wine too. But not as much as I like sleep, reading or cheese, apparently.
We took Noah for a momday and ended up at this awesome candy store called Lolli and Pops. It was awesome.
In other news the Kings won again. And Grace is chanting Jonathan Quick's name. Which is something...
She has another surgery tomorrow, with possible decannulation. I don't have my hopes up. She also had summer school start today and the bus was many minutes late, so we ended up taking her to school (then two different banks, then pedicures, then going to my district, then dim sum, then candy store, then home, then a drive to a place in downey).
Ugh.
I also turned in my teacher of the year application and essays. Thank you to Amy and pix for the editing help.
