"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Jessica,

no. all laws have a disparate impact. The way it wouldn't is if we did something like other countries and guaranteed the right to vote with an automatic free/cheap id as part of it.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Hil, wasn't that a compromise after the original law was deemed unconstitutional?

Yeah, it was. I think the original law did say that SOME student IDs were OK, but only if they had expiration dates on them, which practically no school in the state does. I think that, starting this year, Penn State is putting expiration dates on the student IDs, which means that the students will have to get new ones every year, rather than just keeping the same ID until they graduate or lose the card, like they had been doing.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, yeah -- I loved the 90s look of flowy floral dresses and clompy stompy boots.

I have two weekend modes--fandom shirt and jeans, (preferably maxi) sundress and biker or cowboy boots. Wait--three--mini skirt and cowboy or biker boots and then fandom shirt.

I didn't realise I was keeping the 90s alive, but hey! Snuggle up to the 80s and enjoy the ride!

lunch with mac was successful. He is sorry. He has no idea why he acted the way he did. Me trying to roll him out of bed took him right back to about year 2 in NYC when he felt all out of control. He is still coming down from that flood of emotions this morning and was rocking back and forth a lot at lunch.

serenity prayer.

The only thing I'll note is that all the current research is indicating how hard it is for teens to get up in the morning and functioning. It's not just a matter of will, but their circadian cycles are all geared towards their hormonal and body changes.

Emmett's school is pushing back its start time in response to this.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, mac. He's still trying.

Punishingly Intricate

That is blond me, Jesse!

Poor mac and mom. At least he was sorry for being a pill.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Poor mac. Poor msbelle.

The only significant voter fraud in this country in the last 30 years has involved absentee ballots, but none of these efforts at "preventing fraud" have been aimed at absentee ballots. I'm sure it's a coincidence that a large proportion of absentee voters are military and members of the military tend to vote Republican.

yeah David I am trying to get him as much sleep as possible. In bed by 9pm. He is only 12, so it shouldn't be the same as a 17 year old. We'll work more tonight on getting the alarm set where he has time to snooze it once or twice. god knows I love my sleep, but then again, when I hit the snooze all morning, I can actually get up showered dressed and out the door in 20 minutes if I need to. mac cannot, or at least will not.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The most wonderful thing about wearing a uniform in high school was being able to roll out of bed at fuck'o'clock AM and get dressed in the dark. Didn't matter what I pulled out of the closet, as long as it covered all the necessary bits I'd be fine.

Then junior year I started driving myself to school instead of taking the bus and that's more or less when my morning coffee habit began.
