I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay for problems you can shove out of the way!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

For real, though.

Best kind of problems. Maybe better than no problems. Maybe.

Because books.

This week was so busy, I wish I had the weekend to spend in a cabin somewhere, with books and ice cream. Something on a lake would be nice.

I might have to add tea, crusty bread, and brie to the list of essentials, though.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I had the neighbors over for "sorry about the layoff" drinks and old school Godzilla movies. It made for a pretty good end to the week.

I suspect my liver is not super efficient. Or maybe rose plus homemade schnapps would challenge our ancestors, too.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and wishes for Elliot. I was able to toast his passing with some friends at dinner, tonight. I chose a beer named Gumballhead, after a comic book cat. While Elliot probably had more dignity than a comic book cat, it just felt right. I'm still sad, but I'm more at peace.

eta: Calli, it sounds like we've both got really good friends.

Because books.

That sounds like a good end to the week, Calli. I hope you can find something good soon.

Those both sound lovely. As does Amy's imaginary weekend.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My neighbours are not the "drink with me" type. But I have watched many movies. I tested Lethal Weapon to see if the Mel thing was too bad. Made it through, but two drenched Riggs scenes doesn't help. He was physically attractive. Then Lethal II came on, and I don't know if Chris Evans could get me through that. It was just awful.

Also saw Alex Sarsgard in two very different movies, and man, True Blood (whose last season promos are all over the place) is not the best place to be introduced to them.

Now I'm watching a Catholic high school comedy/drama featuring Papa Sutherland, the other Dillon, Andrew McCarthy and a pre-pretty McDreamy. I have yet to see the funny part yet. Now all the boys are about to do naked swimming or something. I hope to g-d this is an exaggeration, and would like the comedy now.

Sail, I'm so sorry you're going through this, but easy passage for your animal friend.

I drew one porn. That's a start, right? I think the hands were an improvement. So much more hand study to do...I also have an entire book (same guy) about fabric folds. Which still doesn't help me. I can't work out how things fall by just posing a character and putting clothes on them, only by memory, not by working it out.

Sounds silly, huh?

But then I look at a lot of dramatic pieces with lots of fabric and they totally fake. What shape is Batman's cape in action, really?

Finally roasted the pork loin from the freezer. Cutting down on takeout opportunities, but my appetite is for shit. So it won't be eaten today. Smells great, though--lots of balsamic marinade. It's resting right now.
