I've been pulled over for random checks, but they call it random sobriety checks and they check everyone. If they pull everyone over or a consistent "every fourth" or whatever, no one calls it profiling. They generally announce when they're doing them, and they still catch lots of people for various things.
Yeah, the cops around here do "safety checks" on holidays weekends a lot.
I wonder if it has something to do with fleet week.
Clicked the link on Facebook. Price out of my range. Don't need anything that good. Just looking for a cheap used laptop or tablet to watch Democracy Now on.
New coffee bar (that's what the sign says, so I guess I will go with that) is really nice. The owner's live nearby and they want to have community stuff going on - they've already got a crochet/knitting group meeting and are looking for suggestions for more stuff like that. My iced vanilla coffee was quite tasty. They don't open up early enough in the morning for me to stop by before work, but I plan to drop in at the end of tomorrow's run in the afternoon. Yay.
I am generally annoyed by random checks but have never thought it was profiling. It's widely effective in our old neighborhood for keeping drunk driving down.
Last night was a girl scout singalong. Ugh.
I need to get off my ass and work out. Also, I have accomplished zero today. Ugh. But I want to go dance, which would mean I have to leave here around 6--I'm already not going to the lessons, which I really should if I want to get better. But I'm so sleeeeeeeepy. Probably working out would help with that, but...
Sobriety checks I totally understand, but on a Sunday morning, blocking off three lanes of traffic? That seems weird to me.
Maybe working out will energize you for dancing?
I am all melty and feeling like it's too hot to do anything, but it's only 75F, so I don't even know. Have started Operation Bribe Rabbits to Tolerate Being Held through Judicious Application of Carrots. Too early to tell if that's effective, but they don't seem traumatized, and the carrots are eaten.
