We are taking a mother's day break. Went out to brunch, stopped by the hospital to visit KCD and B. He is getting sprung today but has a long road before he is back to himself.
Now we are home, watching Gentlemen Prefer Blonds and CJ is working on homework. Captain America: Winter Solder is later this afternoon. Love having my kids here.
The weather here today is 100% perfect summer weather and I love it. For the record.
My mother took me up on my half-hearted offer to cook her dinner tonight -- she cooks me dinner every other Sunday, so -- so I had to grocery shop and then I have to start cooking! We're having pasta with brussels sprouts, arugula salad, and strawberry shortcake.
Making my Mother lamburger with mint leaves, basalmic viengar, garlic and black pepper. Asparagus with olive oil and garlic. Brussel sprouts with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and black pepper. Sweet potatoes with butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. Carrot cake for dessert. (Only thing not home made - too many places around here that make a better carrot cake than I do.)
So I'd just like to say that the police of Lone Peak, Utah, as opposed to the police of American Fork, Utah, are very kind and polite. The officer pulled my three-month-expired butt over and kindly pointed out that state law allows them to impound cars that far out of registration but he wasn't going to do it.
The AF cop was highly suspicious of me choosing to drive a surface road home from work at 11 PM on a Sunday night rather than take the freeway.
Please, goddess, I just want a legal car.
This has the potential to be a terrible idea, right?

Yes. I mean, if an "ethnic" friend invites you to a restaurant, and knows what to order there that's not on the menu, then great. But inviting a friend along specifically for that reason? No.
Oh how I would love to spend an evening drinking wine with Consuela and Javachik
Ah, that does sound nice.
It is good to read that the mother encounters have been better than feared! We have had a good day here at Mom's. My sister made dinner, kinda. I think everyone had a part in it.
I did have to work and could not figure part of the stuff out so I had to drag DH into it. Seriously, this is why I figured out so many technical issues. It is less complex to just do it myself.
"Hey, you're Chinese! Come induct me into the secret food of your people!"
Ah, that does sound nice.
Doesn't it?
Here's another take on the soy question: [link]
I hope the car stuff gets resolved soon, Connie.
Mom's been gone for seven years now. My sister wants to call and chat tomorrow, though, so I'll get some family time then.
