For mother's day, I helped my mom with a craft project that was causing her much confusion. We also had coffee.
She threatened to shoot me if I tried to take her out to brunch or do anything else that would involve having to deal with large numbers of people.
Glad to hear it, Tom!
Argh, Vortex.
Yay, Franny!
I successfully evaded 3 zombie mobs - luckily they didn't attack while Walter insisted on rolling in the grass. They (not zombies, just the generic "they") were setting up for the Mother's Day Artisan Fair in the plaza - it looks like it will be nice but not anything I absolutely have to not miss. Which is good, because I need to spend some quality time doing nothing and then see how much laundry and dishes I can clean...
Some impressive origami: [link]
VERY nice, Franny! WTG, Burrell.
With an assist from a neighbor, I got the biggest of the small volunteer trees up! Sweet.
We are hungry and can't decide on a place to go, because it's Mother's Day, and places will be mobbed or expensive or both.
I feel like there's got to be a magical category of restaurants that's between a relaxed place you'd go with little kids and a nice place you'd take the mother of grown-ups, but I can't quite define it. Good luck, at any rate. Take-out?
Now we've picked a place, but husband is still fucking around on the internet, so soon I will have to kill and eat him.
That would be an efficient way to solve the problem.
Sitting around doing nothing still seems like the most important thing I could be doing right now. Presumably I will get over that at some point. At the very least I will get hungry.
I too managed to call my mom and wish her happy Mother's Day without anyone picking a fight.
And the rest of the day has been lovely and relaxing, as long as we do what HPF wants.
I had thought about running this morning, but javachik plied me with wine and yummy food last night, and my body decided I would be better off sleeping until 9:30. So I'll probably take the dog for a walk and do laundry before I go climbing.
The strawberry souffle is in the freezer, and the pre-frozen version tasted wonderful. I hope it's a hit...
