Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Or is Bell Hooks saying that dressing scantily is promoting enslavement of women? An objectification thing?

I'm guessing you didn't listen to the talk, but they go into a fair amount detail about the infantilisation and disempowering of that picture, and also assert she has more control over the final picture than I was saying. So she's complicit in undermining the thesis of her power, and offering herself up as a treat, and not a powerful one.

While you might not agree, they discuss it quite a bit, and I don't do it justice.

information libertarian

Is it TJ's version of Pirate Booty? If so I guarantee we will eat in in 2 hours, tops. (Have I had dinner yet? Nope. Am I about to eat one of my children? Yep.)

erika! You're in Oprah magazine!

Wait, what?!?

There's a piece of readers writing in, and erika is one of the people!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

What issue?

It's like purple on the front, and mostly about bodies.

Go, erika!

Man, Janelle Monae is pretty. And I hadn't realized quite how committed she was to the b/w wardrobe.

I went for a long hilly run this morning, then took Dad to the farmer's market, and now I have to make some dessert for tomorrow. I bought strawberries and I'm planning a freezer strawberry souffle, which is especially interesting because you use raw eggs and then don't cook it.

... yeah. I'm going to be nervous about this.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

You can buy sterilized eggs or egg whites. I doubt there's much danger, though, because even though most factory eggs have salmonella, the bacteria has to have a chance to reproduce before there are enough to make adults sick. They're not going be doing much reproducing in the freezer.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Ooh, erika! Cool!

Mom came and we went to the train station for the Nat'l Train Day doings but there was nothing there. The depot wasn't even open, no signs, nothing. So we went to lunch and I checked the website on my phone and it still said there was stuff planned for today, so I don't know. I don't think I care quite enough to contact the person listed as the organizer and ask what happened, but I am put out.

Anyway, we hit the consignment store and the new bath salts and stuff like that store and found stuff to acquire at both, so that was nice. The consignment store cashier remembered me from last time I was in there, which might have been last fall. I should drop in more often, the are always getting new stuff in. The bath collection shop is relatively new and it's either been closed when I've gone by or I had Walter with me and didn't want to leave him while I browsed, so it was good to have the opportunity to check it out. I just got some peppermint-scented beef tallow soap with my Box o' Meat, so I couldn't justify buying all the soaps I liked (standout scents include Cut Grass and Violet), but I did find a clay facial mask to try and I've been looking for one of those since Rachel Perry disappeared. And now that I've browsed fairly thoroughly I can always dash in at the end of a run to pick up something quickly - there's a lamp post nearby where I could tie up Walter for a bit.
