"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

YAY Weekend indeed! I am grading and it's not fucking great, but it is eyeopening. I have two class sets done and at least two more, which is 80 more papers. I'm using a new rubric with 18 criteria which is kicking my ass, but is illuminating on what is working and not in a piece of writing.

So, since I just finished my worst class (seriously. if you have me on facebook, you can see one argument a kid is making in something that is related to English about music and sexually transmitted diseases), I'm taking a break and entering other stuff into my gradebook. YAY.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I'm having a great time in Pebble Beach. Even with Jason working all the time. I finally got to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium today, which was amazing. The seahorse and jellyfish exhibits were so well-designed and fun. Today, J went to the Quail car event, but he skipped the car auctions so we could have a late lunch together. Tonight, he's at a dinner and I'm enjoying Friends reruns. Tomorrow, he's at the vintage car races, while I'm going to the spa for a massage.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Aw, that sounds swell. It's years since I've been to Monterey, but the jellyfish exhibit still sticks in my memory.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Tomorrow, he's at the vintage car races

Never ever so jealous. All those pretty cars...

I know...I wish I could go, but no tix.

I'd be writhing in jealousy but he really loves the cars. And that? Is amazing.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jury's back--driving and generally being out in the world? Suck and hurt. The art class? REALLY COOL. It was non-refundable anyway, so I figured I'd suffer for it (that levels you up artwise already, right?). The organisers were very nice-remembered someone had called about best parking for crutches and had saved me a seat where I could cotch my foot on a random coffee table (I got a sofa in a classroom, so WTF good?).

I need to work out a pain management plan for tomorrow and Sunday, though (4 more hours each day). It was getting distracting past the halfway point.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

All this talk of wine has made me resolve to drink plenty of water today so that I can indulge in a glass of the cabernet sauvignon I bought last fall during a wine sale at the wine shop.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm glad you went to the class, ita!
