My little balcony just got visited by a humming bird, obviously expecting to find a feeder. I hastened to put one out. Now to see if he comes back.

Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
The Krogers here in Myrtle Beach had actual Ham Hocks on sale. Also, it has the largest pickle section I've ever seen.
It's 92 on my (covered an dtherefore shady)patio. I think I'll wait a bit before I try going running, my phone says it will cool off some after 6...
le nubian, I have found it enormously freeing to accept (or maybe believe is the better word, because, hey, maybe it isn't even true) that though my job is not paradise on earth and something I would do even if I wasn't being paid, there isn't a job out there that if only I was doing that instead I would be a happier person or generally better off. And there are plenty I would like less.
Oh, Theo, my Meat CSA is offering ham hocks right now (I guess they didn't have them for a while). I figured getting 5# of bacon was enough gratuitous pig for this order, so I passed on the ham hocks but I'll probably get some eventually.
I have submitted my final plant order! I'm only about $5000 over budget, but that's what you get when you tell me things need to be perfect for Very Important People who can wait for damaged plants to come back in their own time and other unexpected restoration projects.
And now a day of rest before Poppy comes to visit.
Objectively, I hate talking to people on the phone. That instant when the phone beeps for an incoming call is a shot of dread. But then I'm talking to the person, and it's something I can cope with, and it's OK once I'm dealing with it. And I love getting people's systems to work, having them be happy and relieved and grateful when they hang up.
Ideally, I'd be on the porch of a cabin on a Hawaiian beach, crafting best-selling thrillers while Hubby is basking in the land he loves (he really missis Hawaii), but hey.
Timelies all!
Went out for my belated birthday dinner with Gary. Japanese restaurant called HaKuBa that we've been to before. Yum.
I finally need to replace the canister in the sodastream. Exciting!
I may be able to see alligators in the wild around here. Or, here's hoping, a live wild armadillo, though I understand it's easier to see them as road kill, since they're pretty suicidal that way.
Poor things with their maladaptive panic response.
