I have played with digital formats and reminders, but there's something about the manual, tactile connection of writing it down that works for me. I'm using a random binder, Daytimer monthly tabs, and DayRunner two page per week pages. As close to New Year's as I can manage, I go through the previous year's tabs and transfer birthdays, anniversaries, etc., to the new tabs, add in pages and note five-to-four days ahead of each event on the calendar pages, so I can send a card or flowers, whatever.
I make to-dos, checking off things done, and moving those undone to the next day, or next available day. Just the process of *doing* it keeps me on track. I forget to check online schedulers, and am very lax about updating, either done or undone, or adding or amending things to do. Whatever works for each individual, right?
Okay, I bought the Groupon for the pin-up photo session. I doubt at this point that I'll do it until after vacation in July, though.
I use it for a lot of external brain stuff.
That's mostly what I use Evernote for, tbh. The Moleskine for the day-to-day tasks & occurrences, and Google Calendar for the overarching schedule (usually monthly).
Yay pin-up photos!
I just loaded a new printer driver on my neighbor's computer and convinced her to stop using IE. Where's my gold star?
I use the calendar on my tablet for appointments and a ToDo list app I downloaded for recurring things. I need to see if there's an alert thing on the calendar, but there probably is. The Memo feature works for shopping lists. I love my tablet. And all I wanted it for was for reading fic.
Steph, just don't take your mom (even though it worked out ok for that lady.)
Fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck. On top of all the other school stuff we are dealing with for CJ, he didn't get into the fire science program for his senior year. That program is the only way I see him making it through his senior year. I'm ready to cry. I know the grades are his responsibility and they suck. He is crushed. I don't know what to do at this point. Fuck.
It is hard enough working through the ADHD to try to salvage this semester. He is fighting bad habits created from untreated ADHD on top of the ADHD itself. I know on paper his application sucked - but he would be SO fantastic in the program.
Steph, just don't take your mom
Ahahaha, there wouldn't be enough wine to get me through THAT!

Can you talk to the counselor who you said really gets CJ, and see if there's any way to appeal it based on his ADHD? Like, if he has an IEP and/or does well in summer classes, would they reconsider?
And is there a fire science program in college or community college or something, that he could aim for after senior year, as an alternative?
Ginger, gold star for you! No one deserves IE.
Would it help if one of the search and rescue people talked with someone at the school?
There was a Facebook fail this morning. On my news feed right under the breaking news about the shooter at the FedEx facility, the "Related" was headlined: "Fail Of The Week: How To Lose Your Job At FedEx Instantly!" It was for a YouTube video of a driver chasing a truck that was rolling away.
(The shooting involved an employee who arrived heavily armed and started shooting. Six people were shot and three are in critical condition. The shooter was found dead a few hours later.)
